Dear AAPPA Members:

It was a tremendous honor for me to accept the IPMA-HR Chapter of Excellence Award on behalf of the Alabama Association of Public Personnel Administrators at the IPMA-HR Conference in Chicago. I was very pleased that other AAPPA members were there to share in this recognition of our chapter—Deloris Brown, Stephanie King, Barbara Montoya, and Donald Dees. I have included the description of the award that was printed in the awards luncheon program. My thanks go out again to Susan Lovett and Barbara Montoya for their work in preparing and submitting the nomination of our chapter.
Because Barbara Montoya has played such an important role in the formation and development of our association, because of the leadership she has provided in both AAPPA and IPMA-HR, and because of her dedication to the professional development and association of public sector human resource professionals in Alabama and throughout the nation, I asked Barbara to join me in accepting the award and to display the award in her office. She will bring it to our annual conference next July so you can see it in person.

The attached picture was taken after the award presentation. From left to right, IPMA-HR Executive Director Neil Reichenberg, Barbara Montoya, Steve Reeves, and IPMA-HR President Sam Wilkins.

Congratulations to each of you for this prestigious award!

Sincerely,

Steve Reeves, AAPPA President
