At the August 17, 2009 AAPPA Executive Board and Education Committee meeting, it was decided that classes in the Emergency Management for Government and the Public Sector Program should apply for re-certification credits, subject to the approval of the membership at the meeting in July 2010.

The proposed amendment states: "The Executive Board and Education Committee will be recommending a change to Policy Number 0500, Certification Maintenance, of the AAPPA Policy Manual. We are proposing that the Emergency Management for Government and the Public Sector Program on-line courses provided by the Center for Governmental Services be approved for re-certification purposes only. Credit may be applied retroactively after the membership approves the policy change at the Association's July 2010 Annual Conference. Satisfactory completion of each four week course in the program results in 12 hours of eligible re-certification credit."
